Game changer. Ever heard that expression? Football games that seem to be in the bag for one team, and suddenly, pick six! Game changer. A person's diet is almost completely salty, fatty, delicious fried food when the cholesterol test comes back "800." Game changer. Marriage. Game changer. First child. Game changer. New job. Game changer. Lose a job. Game changer. What are the game changers you've been through in your life? How impactful have they been? What have you had to change because of them? Of all the things that qualify as being a "game changer" in a person's life, I hope that the one near the top of your list is becoming a Christian. In fact, if you think about it, its really should be a "no-brainer" that becoming a disciple of Jesus is the #1 game changer any believer has ever experienced in his or her life. It's really the #1 game changer a person can possibly experience in this life, far more than even the birth of a child or even the death of a loved one. Even if you came to faith at a young age, say 24 hours old, the game changer of baptism has 180 degrees changed the game of life in your favor. You do things you wouldn't have otherwise done. You don't do things you otherwise would have willingly done...again and again. You are something you formerly never had hope of being. You aren't what you were. You're going to a new destination, and you're retreating from what was once inevitable. Everything about becoming a disciple of Jesus changes the game in every way. Come on in to church this Sunday and praise the One who wants nothing more than to change the game in your favor. Learn again what it entails. Be comforted, strengthened and prepared for what our Lord will make of you. And none of it will entail giving up the french fries or onion rings.
