ABOUT US
Our Beliefs »
Saint Paul summarized what WELS believes in 1 Corinthians 1:23. “We preach Christ crucified…” A simple statement to say, but a complex notion to fathom. The implications of Christ’s crucifixion to save all of us resonate through the centuries, to our time and beyond. It is because of His sacrifice that we strive to live in His word through literal and historical interpretations of the Bible and of the teachings of Martin Luther.
The idea of Christ’s crucifixion should not bring us woe. On the contrary! We are imperfect and undeserving of God’s love, but because of His son’s atoning sacrifice, we have the ultimate reprieve. With Jesus’ victory over even death, God’s covenant to all of His children was kept. That brings us the greatest joy of all!
As God’s children, we strive to love our fellow man as He and Jesus taught us to do. Through ministry and outreach, we share this love and the Word with the world. We share the story of Jesus in the hopes that others will take heart in knowing Him and following His path. We extend our fellowship so that all may find comfort and peace in the world.
Yes, “Christ crucified” may be the simplest way to describe our beliefs, but what it represents is far more complex, and far more rewarding. more »
Our Church »
Lincoln Heights is a congregation of people committed to God’s Word, where we find all the spiritual blessings and truths His children need in today’s world. With the negativity out there in the media, in politics, in society, it’s comforting to know that God is always there to guide us through the darkness to find our way home.
We are committed to learning the teachings of Jesus and finding ways to apply them in our lives daily. Through these teachings and the study of His life, our faith in Him as our one true Savior grows stronger. He was and is the embodiment of God’s covenant, and he brought forgiveness and eternal life to all who trust in Him.
As we commit to Him, we commit to others in love. Jesus said, “All men will know you are my disciples if you love each other.” And, we strive to ensure all who come to Lincoln Heights feel as loved as God loves us, His children.

Programs & Ministries »
Worship: Sunday mornings at 8:00 & 10:30 AM we come together to interact with our Lord by hearing from him about a topic of great importance and responding to him in song and prayer. Public worship is the most important thing we do together and it is the glue that keeps us joined with God and each other.
We begin a week in this world of frustration by remembering with joy all God has done for us.
Bible Class & Sunday School: From 9:15 - 10:15, we dismiss the children to Sunday School and gather together as adults to learn again from God's Word.
VBS: (Christmas, Easter, and Summer) On Saturdays during appropriate times of the year, we spend a few hours with our neighborhood families sharing the story of Jesus and having fun. Join us for singing, crafts, and food.
SUDANESE: In the fall of 2006, a large group of Sudanese refugees began attending Lincoln Heights. Since then, many blessings have been given to us through this opportunity. We have been privileged to learn so much about what differences culture speaks to. We have been able to assist in a small way with the various material needs they and their relatives in Africa have. Far more importantly, we have been given the blessing and responsibility to begin teaching in a full way the message of Jesus Christ. It is a task that we hope to carry out in Des Moines, throughout the Sudanese community in America, and to the Sudanese still living in various countries in Africa.
